# Discovering Pre-loaded Pay Types

## Thankyou Payroll comes with most standard pay types pre-loaded to ensure correct calculations happen. Read on to see which we've programmed for you.

When [creating timesheets](https://help.thankyoupayroll.co.nz/en/timesheet-overview?hsLang=en), you will use pay types to indicate different items that make up the employee’s specific pay. Luckily, for your convenience, Thankyou Payroll comes with most of the standard pay types pre-loaded and formulated to calculate compliantly. **Where possible, always use these pre-loaded pay types**.

### Pre-loaded Remuneration Pay Types

| These are included as gross wages paid to the employee and taxed according to the pay type. |

### Pre-loaded Allowance Pay Types

| These are additional agreed payments to recognise extra duties, inconveniences or for reimbursements. This will be taxed or non-taxable depending on the allowance.  |

For your convenience, the system has the following pre-loaded allowance pay types. You are free to create [Custom Pay Types](https://help.thankyoupayroll.co.nz/en/creating-a-custom-pay-type-for-allowances/deductions?hsLang=en) for clarity on the payslip.

### Pre-loaded Deduction Pay Types

| These are amounts taken out of the employee’s pay to comply with legal requirements or employee requests. These can either be taxed or non-taxable depending on the deduction. |

You will create [Custom Pay Types](https://help.thankyoupayroll.co.nz/en/creating-a-custom-pay-type-for-allowances/deductions?hsLang=en) for most Employee-requested deductions. The Thankyou Payroll system manages the following deductions:
